Introduction:

Povidone iodine powder is an unstable complex formed by the complexation of surfactants and iodine. It is an iodophor external disinfectant. It is a yellow-brown to red-brown amorphous powder at room temperature. It is easily soluble in water or In ethanol, it is insoluble in ether or chloroform.

The 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone homopolymer is a surfactant, which helps the solution to wet and penetrate the object, thereby enhancing the bactericidal effect of iodine. Among them, 80-90% of the bound iodine can be depolymerized into free iodine, with a large concentration, strong bactericidal power, odorless, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, and low toxicity.

Slightly odorous, easily soluble in water or ethanol, the aqueous solution is acidic, insoluble in ether, chloroform, acetone, ethane and carbon tetrachloride.

Application:

Povidone iodine powder is mainly used as a disinfectant and antiseptic. It is used for purulent dermatitis, skin fungal infections, small-area mild burns and scalds, and it is also used for the disinfection of small-area skin and mucous membrane wounds. The mechanism of action is that the product can depolymerize and release the iodine contained in it to play a bactericidal effect after it contacts the wound or affected area. It is characterized by low tissue irritation and is suitable for skin and mucous membrane infections.

It can be used for skin disinfection and instrument disinfection in hospital operations and injections, infection prevention in oral, gynecology, surgery, dermatology, etc., sterilization and disinfection of household utensils and utensils, sterilization and disinfection in food industry, aquaculture, and animal disease prevention and treatment.
