Product Introduction:

Sodium Hydride is typically a white or light gray crystalline powder with high water absorbing capabilities that is often highly reactive to atmospheric moisture vapor, reacting with it to form sodium hydroxide while simultaneously liberating hydrogen gas. With an melting point of 800degC and decompose point at 800degC it becomes insoluble for use as liquid ammonia, benzene carbon disulfide or even liquid sodium hydroxide; making it particularly hazardous when exposed to air conditions.

Sodium Hydride is an extremely strong reducing agent that reacts with various metals to form metal hydrides while simultaneously reducing nonmetallic oxides. Furthermore, sodium Hydride undergoes substitution reactions with organic compounds like aldehydes, ketones, and esters to form hydrides while it also reacts with bromides and iodides to form their respective hydrides – this makes sodium Hydride essential in chemical synthesis and reduction reactions.

In organic synthesis, sodium Hydride is often employed to neutralise acidic and hard alkaline compounds – particularly carboxylic acids and amides – by neutralisation with strong bases such as water.
