Dioctyl Sebacate (DOS for short) is an organic compound belonging to the family of fatty acid esters. It typically appears as a colorless or light yellow transparent oily liquid with an unique scent and has the formula C26H50O4. It has stable chemical properties and does not decompose easily at room temperatures and pressure; it dissolves readily in organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, esters and chlorinated hydrocarbons but insoluble with water or diols; its freezing point stands at around -48degC, while its boiling point around 256degC (0.67kPa), while its refractive index ranges between 1.449-1.451(25degC), while density between 0.913-919g/cm3 (20degC).
